Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings

I don't know about y'all but my favorite sports bar is Buffalo Wild Wings or what is commonly known as B-Dubs®. They have  multiple large screen TVs throughout the restaurant so you can watch any game you want and if you don't see your team of choice then all you have to do is ask. Along with wall to wall sports, they have a great selection of food ranging from great appetizers to share with your friends, sandwiches, burgers and their popular boneless or traditional chicken wings with a selection of their famous sauces. They have 1,175 restaurants around the world with the closest one to High Point University only about a 13 min drive from campus which is located at 5836 Samet Dr, High Point, NC 27265. Their hours are 11:00 am until 1:00 am every day except Sunday  when they close at midnight.

Aside from the reliably good food, what B-Dubs has been recognized for is their variety of specialty sauces which range from sweet to burn your tongue hot!  They are conveniently color coded from green to blazing red so there are no mistakes in the degree of heat that you might want!  The wide variety of choices include 'Sweet BBQ', 'Teriyaki', 'Mild', 'Medium' and ';Spicy Garlic', to the eat at your own risk 'Blazin', but there are many more options as they have a total of 21 different flavors. Although it is fun to go with friends and share, my favorite out of all of them is Teriyaki because it is sweet with a hint of spice. And believe it or not I have friends who like really hot wings so they opt for the Blazin wings every time. Now because my blog is about budget friendly options for college students, lets talk menu options. At BWW the menu allows for you to pay for the amount of wings your stomach and wallet can handle. They have a Traditional Snack(5), Small(10), Medium(15), and Large(20) or the boneless wings Snack(8), Small(12), Medium(18), and Large(24), ranging in price from $6.49 to $19.49. The price is average in comparison to other sports bars but one thing you can be sure of, no matter which sauce or the amount of wings you get, traditional or boneless, the wings from B-Dubs are the best wings I have every had.

Now, if wings aren't your thing, they have many other options that are packed with flavor including burgers, wraps and a variety of specialty sandwiches. My favorites though are their burgers and the boneless wings. If you are eating with a large group of friends, I would suggest the House Sampler to split with everyone as it gives the most bang for the buck with a great variety including ultimate nachos, onion rings, mozzarella sticks and of course boneless wings with your choice of dressings and sauces. Even though Buffalo Wild Wings can get a little more expensive depending on what you order, they make it up in quality of their food, quantity for sharing  and the amazing staff and experience of the game night venue.  Maybe I will see you at the next Panther game night!

Carolina's Diner

Carolina's Dinner is definitely the best breakfast food in High Point! Everything from their eggs and bacon to their pancakes is delicious. Breakfast food all day long and if that's not for you, their many other options are just as good! They are open 24 hours with the exception that they close at 9pm on Sundays and open back up on Monday at 6am. They have 4 location around North Carolina. The closet one is right down the road form High Point University! It is located at 201 Eastchester Drive High Point, NC 27262.  By car it is about 10 mins from the University.  The best time to go to Carolina's would be for brunch at around 10:30-noon.

This is a "Dinermite two," with this dish you get two eggs two pieces of bacon two, two sausages and 4 slices of french toast. This is my favorite breakfast to get and its only $6.99! Something special about this Carolina's Diner is that if you are a student you get a discount. The meals are very low cost and very flavorful. Also if you like bacon and you want thick cut this is the place to be.

This is the "Chicken Strips"meal pictured to the left. It comes with 4 strips and two sides. I get two sides of fries, of which one of them is usually bacon cheese fries. This meal only cost $9.25 and will fill anyone up real quick. I have been to Carolina's Diner multiple times and my total bill has never been over $20. Their staff is extremely nice and very attendant to your needs. They refill your drinks without even having to ask which is always nice anywhere! When you go in to sit down it feels like a family owned diner in the country with all the Pepsi memorabilia.  If you are ever looking for a good breakfast or dinner Carolina's Diner is the place to go!

Cook-out

This is every High Point students dream on a Saturday night after having fun with friends! They are open from 10:30am till 2am Monday through Thursday and from 10:30 till 3:30am Friday through Sunday. The closest Cook-out to High Point University is found at 2420 N Main St, High Point, NC 27262. They have two drive through lanes for when it gets extra busy.

One of my favorite selections to get is the Cook-out tray. This gives you multiple options to customize your own meal for a low cost of $4.99. There are many other things on the menu so if you are not hungry for a whole meal and just want a side or just a burger then you can order them off the regular menu. They have everything from hamburgers to chopped pork BBQ sandwiches. For the Cook-out tray you choose 1 main dish, 2 sides, and a choice of of a large drink, bottled water or for a dollar more a fancy shake!

My favorite combination for the Cook-out tray is a Big Double burger with two sides of fries and a vanilla fancy shake. I always feel full after eating a tray. There fries are crispy but not too crispy. and the burger is always cooked just right. if you don't believe me then head too cook out and try it for yourself.

Barberitos

Barberitos has to be one of the best burrito restaurants in High Point! They are inexpensive, but still have the same quality as big chain restaurants like Chipotle. One of my favorite things to get at Barberitos, that you can't get at Chipotle, is queso. The quality and the amount of food that you are given with the meal, including tip for under $20 make every college kid happy.

A great deal that Barberitos offers is College night for all the HPU students.  Every Monday night students are able to get a meal for $6 with their student ID. I love to go to barberitos on monday nights with friends just because of College night. Barberitos has great staff and you are able to make your order the way you want it. I would call it the Subway of burritos.

They have a wide variety of choices that you can choose from. My favorite dish is a flour Burrito with double steak and cheese with white rice and a side of chips and queso. Their meat and every topping from cheese to guacamole is fresh. Every time I have been to Barberitos I have had a great meal! Hope to see you there!
